Over the past few weeks I've pretty much just been posting random articles about China, Beijing, and anything else that comes to my mind. So much randomness makes Jason go crazy sometimes, so I feel like taking a minute to update on my life - for those of you interested. If not, too bad it helps clear my mind.
I've taken up Breakdancing - Finally! Who would have thought that I would learn more about hip-hop culture in CHINA than I did in the US? Well, me, because labor is cheaper here which means that classes are cheaper. While the travel time is ridiculous - over 1 hour just to get to the place - I think it's worth it because the teacher is really good and I'm taking 1on1 classes. So far I've got the basic top-rock down and he's showing me a few freeze poses, but I don't think I'll be near that for a while as I need to build my strength up. This is good exercise and good fun. Sure beats the gym!
Soccer. I've been doing soccer for a while here and have met a lot of people through it. Our company finally got our team uniforms in and have joined a 2 month long tournament. Every saturday we have games and thursday practice. Pretty solid. Another reason to not renew my gym membership.
Starcraft league. I finally got a starcraft league kicked off at work. It was SOOO awesome today. Everyone at the company knows that I'm pretty good and there is another guy on the chinese side that everyone knows is good. After the initial game of my friend Malley vs this other protoss they asked me to step up and play. I smashed the protoss player, then they put me against their best. The first game I played pretty poor, but it was a good warmup for my terran (my worst race). 2nd game I picked up the pace a lot. There were about 20 people watching over our shoulders and it was great. I ended up winning a long game with many interesting turn arounds such as me losing my base and rebuilding it completely in another spot.
Relaxed. I've accomplished this finally. I don't feel like every little thing is the end of the world anymore. I don't go out and then regret it anymore - instead I go out and have fun. Life is way better this way and I'm glad I've finally gotten myself to this point. I'm doing a lot of things that I love, but I still have kept up my blogging, my constant learning, reading and such.
It's funny how that works. Looking back, it didn't take very much time to progress and that short amount of time passed very fast. When I first started this blog and conscious personal development it felt like everyday passed really slow and keeping up with the blog was so hard - at any moment it would just all come crumbling down. Oh the irony.
Life is wonderful. And yes, even though Beijing is a really dirty place :) There are lots of other good things about living here, everwhere has their ups and downs.
A lot of people commented about my last blog post (on my MSN GRRR you can comment on the blog too!) It seems I've been posting too many bad things about Beijing and not focusing enough on the good things. I'll try to post a few good things here in the next couple days to balance the picture.

Good to know that your taking things a lot more in stride. It's always good to have that balance between getting things done and relaxing, because life is a marathon, not a race. It's also good to know that you are enjoying your time in Beijing as well. Hope that you continue to find things that you enjoy doing and keep up the good work!
